Movie Review: Kung Fu Dunk (2008)

If you enjoyed the film Shaolin Soccer, you should also watch this film even though this movie is all about basketball with a twist of kung fu. Kung Fu Dunk was originally titled "Slam Dunk" because it was based on the highly-acclaimed anime "Slam Dunk" even though there is no connection with it aside from the sports basketball.

 Promotional poster for the live-action
film Kung Fu Dunk, the original poster
used the title "Slam Dunk".

But now I forgot some of those movies. Well, here's a thriller-horror-suspense film which features another version of the hit Japanese horror movie The Ring.

Ryo Saeba is the best City Hunter

Kdrama fanatics know what City Hunter is and they know that Johny Lee is the City Hunter. The fact is, Johnny Lee is the Korean City Hunter, while Jackie Chan and Mr. Mumble is the Chinese and Cantonese version of the City Hunter. But the real and the original City Hunter was an anime character and his name is Ryo Saeba, Tokyo's mightiest sweeper.

JP Cuison,  for "Team Eraserheads".

Here's the update of my post about the Eraserheads Reunion Concert:

It's only a speculation then but finally the rumor is true. Once again, Eraserheads will reunite and this is finally confirmed. Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala and Raimund Marasigan will share the podium again but however this will only happen in North America.

Eraserheads has been the most influential OPM band in the '90s. Julie Anne San Jose's first success on MYX Countdown

We all know that it's rare for a kapuso artist to topped in MYX's Daily Top 10 but last day Japs acquired the top spot in the countdown not only in the daily countdown but also in the weekly Pinoy Myx Countdown replacing Callalily's Minsan on the top spot and followed by PNE's Bagsakan.

Parokya ni Edgar still the best: Bagsakan II enters the countdown

Bagsakan II's success shows that PNE still have the charisma to the mass. They've been a band more than a decade. They started in 1993 in Ateneo de Manila. PNE has different musical genres from poprock to alternative rock. They provide novelty in most of their songs.

Callalily is back with their rendition of "Minsan"

Callalily is a poprock band started in mid-2000s. Their hit single "Magbalik"  of the album Destination XYZ became a doorway for them to acquire fame in the OPM industry. Their other single includes "Take my Hand", "Stars", "Pasan" and "Susundan".

Their singles Gabay, Nananaginip and Liwanag of the album "Callalily" also make it to the charts. Callalily were composed of A.K.L.A.T. but in 2010, their drummer Alden Acosta leave the band to focus in his studies and to become a drummer for a new band.  Lemuel Belaro replaced Alden as a drummer. The other three continued their role, Tatsi for lead guitar, Aaron Ricafrente for the bass and Kean Cipriano for the vocals and guitar.

When Eraserheads, Francis M. and Rivermaya are in the same stage

Here's a rare video of the top artists then in one stage. They are considered  as the Big 3 of OPM then because of their contribution to the OPM industry.

During the '90s, OPM has a great demand in every Filipinos. Everyone wanted OPM songs, mostly youths. It was a great era then, in which OPM reach it's golden period. In every radio station you will hear some Eheads songs or Rivermaya songs.

Then Francis M. introduced a new genre that will be easily accepted by Filipinos, this is the combination of rap and rock. He's songs became an instant hit in the charts these include Mga Kababayan Ko.
