Finally, Eraserheads will perform in the Philippines after their North American tour. The event will be hold at The Big Dome (Smart Araneta Coliseum) on December 1, 2012 but wait, don't be excited because this concert is too good to be true. Why? Because it is just a HOAX. The group will never perform again for their fans based here in the Philippines.
This is the theoretical poster circulating online last week. The poster announces that Eraserheads will once again perform in the Philippines and it is dubbed as the "One Last Time" concert. According to a tweet of Ely Buendia, the December Eheads concert is not true and just a HOAX.
The last reunion concert of the quartet was performed at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds on March 7, 2009. It was dubbed "The Final Set", the concert is a continuation of "The Reunion Concert" last 2008.
Probably, an avid fan of the Eheads made this. However, this poster has many flaws. Sony BMG is already defunct and no longer in business while nowadays, it's rare for Filipino artists to perform in Smart Araneta Coliseum instead the producers are bringing them abroad because they can have more profit there and also, The Big Dome has became a haven for foreign acts.
So it's been 3 years since the OPM band performed and played for there fans here in the Philippines. I guess they will never perform again here in the Philippines because their last concert was dubbed "The Final Set". It means that it will be their final set here in the Philippines.
Too good to be true.
Fans surely miss the Eraserheads, but it's not their fault if why the group will not have a concert here in the Philippines because the band has already reunited and performed for them. It's time for the fans abroad to see them again in one stage. For sure, there are huge number of Eheads fans abroad. Eraserheads is a band that rocked the 90s, their fans then are mostly youths. From teenagers to young adults, Eraserheads influenced some of the youths during 90s. Probably today, their fans have grown up and some of them become professionals and worked or migrated abroad.
So the producers choose a good decision to bring the band there. They will not only make the fans abroad happy but the producers will also have a big profit from the concert.
How about the fans based on the Philippines?
Their fans based in the Philippines is surely waiting for them to perform and play again but Eraserheads has already performed for them in their last concert titled "The Final Set". and it was a continuation for "The Reunion Concert" that has been cut due to the sudden collapse of their frontman on stage. The fans should be glad because they continued the concert one year after, but Eheads should perform once again in their homeland. They might get tired because of their North American Reunion Tour, but it's not an excuse for them to not perform in their homeland.
The Beatles never had a reunion concert, they never performed together after their break-up. They might have some small reunions, but it will not be dubbed as a reunion of the Fab Four because they're incomplete. Today, two of their member has already died so it will be impossible for them to reunite again and perform in one stage. We all know that The Eraserheads has been influenced by the Fab Four especially their frontman, Ely Buendia. I hope that they will realize that it will be difficult for them to reunite if one of them will pass away. If they will not perform this year in the Philippines, they should do it next year and think of it as a gift for their avid fans who always keep on dreaming of their reunion.
The concert should be dubbed "One Last Time" like the fan-made poster wants. Eheads fans that is based here in the Philippines will surely wait for this to happen.
Filipinos abroad is surely excited for their upcoming reunion tour. It's been a topic here in my blog since I discovered the rumor last July and turned out to be true. Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Marcus Adoro and Buddy Zabala will surely make their fans abroad happy.
Here's the official poster of their reunion tour in New Jersey (taken from nosajentertainment.com):
This will happen in The Armory, 678 Montgomery St. Jersey City, New Jersey. So, I guess the New York concert on October 20 has been abandoned.
